The new CBS drama Unforgettable is based on the extreme memory retention found in the minds of the victims of a rare condition called hyperthymesia. The condition is so rare that it has been found in only a handful of people. The most famous possessor of the condition is Taxi star Marilu Henner.
Poppy Montgomery plays detective Carrie Wells, who has the condition, and can remember virtually every detail of her life, with the exception of the details of the day her sister was murdered. How convenient of CBS.
This extraordinary ability leads Carrie back into the crime solving business, in what sounds like a female version of the Mentalist. In a twist of fate, a murder reunites her with her former love, NYPD Detective Al Burns.
All the twists and turns should keep the drama flowing in Unforgettable, so with a memory as keen as a herd of elephants, let’s hope Poppy Montgomery never gets well.
