Suburgatory is a new 2011 ABC sitcom, that combines the high school angst of Glee, with a healthy dose of Stepford Wives.
The premise centers around single dad George, who believes that he can save his daughter Tessa from dabbling in sexual exploration, by whisking her away from her big city life and moving her to a sedate suburb.
Ironically, the suburbs are anything but kind to not-so-innocent Tessa, but there is really no shocker in that scenario. It wouldn’t be a funny sitcom if viewers just watched good-old dad make pancakes every morning, right after the milkman made his morning delivery.
The preview is reminiscent of every other teenage comedy from the past, but Suburgatory may catch on with teens who can identify with Tessa and her agonizing life.
